Recruiting for volunteers who are interested in teaching seniors the basic "how-to''s" of their electronic devices, such as cellphones, smartphones, tablets, or computers. Content includes general areas such as adding phone contacts, accessing the internet/emails, deleting photos, etc. With the help of volunteers, seniors are able to navigate through their different tech-gadgets in order to maintain their independent life.

Hours are flexible based on volunteer and client availability.

Volunteer Requirements
- completion of volunteer training
- clear background check
- reference check

Volunteer Action for Aging's Friendly Caller Program connects volunteers with seniors who face depression, isolation and other life challenges. Volunteers are matched with a client to provide emotional support, companionship and conversation - all over the phone.

VAA recommends a one-hour telephone call per week. The dates and times of the calls will be dependent on the volunteer's and client's schedule.

Volunteer Requirements
- clear background check
- completion of volunteer training
- reference check

Duties
- volunteer will schedule regular calls with the client
- volunteer will keep track of and report their hours spent with their client
- volunteer will contact the volunteer coordinator with any concerns, problems or questions related to the client's well-being

Qualifications
- demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills
- exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- exhibit reliability and dependability
- possess a passion to serve frail and isolated senior and disabled adults

Additional Training
- volunteers are encouraged to attend networking and training meetings organized by VAA staff
